Just paint (or draw) directly onto your already-glazed piece, and then fire to a very low temperature (usually cone 022 to 017). Because luster overglazes are made of actual gold, the end result is a brilliance unlike anything else in the ceramics field.
Can you fire gold Lustre?

Why is gold luster red?
It turns gold after being fired at a peak temperature of 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit for an average of about eight hours. The red color comes from red dye, which, along with fragrant oils, is added to the 22K gold. The red dye makes it easier to see the lustre during the application process.

What is the best bisque temperature?
The most common temperature to bisque fire pottery is cone 06 – 04. This equates to around 1830 – 1940F, (999-1060C). However, potters do bisque fire at other temperatures. The right temperature to bisque fire depends partially on the clay you are using.

That is not to be ignored! Cone 6 is about 400 degrees hotter than cone 06! As you can see from the pyrometric chart (above), the “0” serves as a negative sign. Therefore cone 05 is cooler than cone 04 whereas cone 5 is hotter than cone 4. For the most reliable results, it is best to match your clay with your glazes.
