What is lateral crural steal?
The lateral crural steal procedure is a technique used for repositioning the dome and control of the medial-to-lateral crus ratio without any lower lateral cartilage division. The lateral crus is advanced onto the medial crus, increasing the length of the medial crus at the expense of the lateral crus.
What is a crural strut graft?
Lateral crural strut grafts are strips of autogenous cartilage usually harvested from the septum and carved to 3 to 4 mm in width and 15 to 25 mm in length. The graft is placed in an undermined pocket between the undersurface of the lateral crus and the vestibular skin and stabilized by suturing it to the crus.
What is the lateral crus?
The lateral crus (inferior crus; external pillar) is the stronger and is formed by that portion of the inguinal ligament which is inserted into the pubic tubercle; it is curved so as to form a kind of groove, upon which, in the male, the spermatic cord rests.
What is a strut graft?
Cervical Corpectomy and strut graft refer to a surgical procedure that relieves compression on the spinal cord by removing the degenerated bone and replacing it with a bone graft.
What are the medial and lateral crus?
The medial crus inserts at the pubic crest, while the lateral crus attaches to the pubic tubercle. There is also grooving of the lateral crus (not observed in females) that provides an atraumatic area for the spermatic cord to lay. The base of the triangular opening falls along the pubic crest.
What is conjoined tendon?
The conjoint tendon is a fusion of muscle that forms from the internal oblique tendon and the transverses abdominis tendon. In some occurrences, the tendons can be entirely separate.[7]
What is lateral wall of nose?
The lateral wall of the nasal cavity is a region of the nasopharynx essential for humidifying and filtering the air we breathe in nasally. Here we can find a structure called agger nasi. The agger nasi is also referred to as the ‘nasoturbinal concha’ or ‘nasal ridge.
What is a batten graft?
An alar batten graft is a thin, carefully shaped piece of cartilage or bone which is placed over the nasal sidewall in an area of weakness. It typically bridges the gap between the alar cartilage and the bone of the face.
What is medial crus?
The medial crus (superior crus; internal pillar) is a broad, thin, flat band, attached to the front of the symphysis pubis and interlacing with its fellow of the opposite side.
What is the purpose of conjoint tendon?
The conjoint tendon makes up the main part of the medial portion of the posterior wall of the inguinal canal. The conjoint tendon has an essential role in protecting a weak area in the abdominal wall in which a weakening of the conjoint tendon may lead to a direct inguinal hernia.
Where is the conjoint tendon located?
inguinal canal
The conjoint tendon forms the medial part of the posterior wall of the inguinal canal. [3] It is located right behind the superficial inguinal ring. The inguinal canal is a small passage formed by aponeuroses of the abdominal musculature.
Is nasal septum and lateral wall same?
Bones and cartilages Three cartilages contribute to the nasal septum: lesser alar cartilages are paired cartilages suspended in the fibro-fatty tissue that forms the lateral aspect of the nostril. The structures lie free from the other cartilages and provide the nostril with stability and form.
What is lateral nasal cartilage?
The lateral cartilage (upper lateral cartilage, lateral process of septal nasal cartilage) is situated below the inferior margin of the nasal bone, and is flattened, and triangular in shape. Lateral nasal cartilage. Cartilages of the nose. Side view.
What is Transfixion incision?
The transfixion incision. The transfixion incision is a through and through incision made at the caudal end of the septal cartilage. A subperichondrial dissection can be carried out on one or both sides of the septum. Cartilage exposure.
