How wide can you have a roller blind?
Generally, our standardchain operated roller blinds can reach a maximum of 3450mm wide and our new Premium XL range of roller blinds can reach up to 4700mm wide, which for most people is plenty wide enough.
How wide can you get window blinds?
If you’ve ever wondered what the standard size of window blinds is, the standard window length ranges from 36 to 72 inches, and the standard width ranges from 24 to 60 inches.
How wide should roller shades be?
The fabric will generally be between 1 and 2″ less than the ordered width. For example, if you ordered a roller shade at 35” wide, the width of the material on the finished shade would be between 33 and 34 inches. Please take this into account if you are trying to control the light.
Can you join two roller blinds together?
You can join more than two roller blinds together using the joining brackets. For example, if you have a window with three blinds, you could have a linked joining bracket between the first two blinds, controlled by a single chain control.
Does it matter if roller blinds are too long?
No, it doesn’t matter if the fabric of a roller blind is too long, or more to the point, longer than the minimum length it needs to be. This causes no functional issues and isn’t visible, as the additional length remains rolled up around the tube at the top.

If you want to fit roller blinds within your recess, measure the area like this:
- Measure the width of the window, starting at the top. Use the edges of the window recess as your guide.
- Now measure across the middle and bottom of the window.
- Take three measurements over the height of your window, too.
Can you put roller blinds side by side?
When you have two or more roller blinds side by side, you can link them using our joining brackets. The joining brackets reduce the gap between the blinds to provide better window coverage and a professional finish. Choose from two types of joining bracket – a linked joining bracket or an independent joining bracket.
How do you cut a roller blind that is too wide?
You can use a pencil to mark the areas that need to be cut away to make the process easier for you. Take a sharp pair of scissors and cut away the marked areas, once this is done you can even out the edges and hang your new blinds.
Should roller blinds touch the floor?
We generally advise not allowing your roller blinds to roll down to the point that they come into contact with the ground, for reasons that I’ll get into in more detail later on.
