Dennis Brown, a popular and prolific Jamaican reggae singer, died on Thursday at University Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. He was 42. The cause was respiratory failure, said a spokesman for Heartbeat Records, which has released several of Mr. Brown’s albums.
