Is Christianity declining in the South?
Survey finds Christianity on the decline — even in the South. Christian faith still flourishes in the Bible Belt — but there, like elsewhere, it’s in decline. That’s one of the findings of the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey released this week.

Why is there a decrease in religion?
The decline in church membership, then, appears largely tied to population change, with those in older generations who were likely to be church members being replaced in the U.S. adult population with people in younger generations who are less likely to belong.
