What is Mitaban used for?
MITABAN (amitraz) is indicated for treatment of generalized demodicosis (Demodex canis) in dogs. Current data do not support use for treatment of localized demodicosis or scabies.
What are the symptoms of canine Demodicosis?
Clinical signs begin with multiple areas of hair loss, scaling, and redness. These small areas get larger and progress to affect the entire body, causing severe irritation of the skin. Secondarily, severe bacterial infections commonly occur as a result of the demodicosis.
What is Mitaban dip for dogs?
Mitaban Dip – Pfizer is a liquid concentrated of amitraz and is indicated for topical treatment of generalized demodicosis (Demodex canis) in dogs. Mitaban is applied as a dip after a cleansing shampoo. Fertility impairment studies have not been conducted in the canine with MITABAN (amitraz).

Is Demodex mange?
Demodectic mange, sometimes just called ‘demodex’ or ‘red mange’, is the most common form of mange in dogs. “As long as the body’s immune system is functioning properly, these mites cause no harm.” All normal dogs (and many humans) have a few of these mites on their skin.
How often can I dip my dog for mange?
You will need to treat your dog three times at 7 OR 14 day intervals as determined by your veterinarian.
Can Demodex mites live in bedding?
Yes. Demodex can live in bedding and other appropriate surfaces for a limited time, during which they can spread to others via direct contact. Although Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis can only live on humans, they can last for hours to days on external surfaces once separated from the skin.
How do I know if mange is healing?
Once treatment is finished, your dog still might have bold spots, but you should see some hair starting to grow back. As the mites and any secondary skin infections die down, the itching also will subside.
