The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) launched a new Professional Examination Syllabus on 25th of September 2020. A paper on an overview and Insight into the New ICAN Professional Syllabus, was presented by Dr Innocent Okwuosa PhD, FCA, Chairman of the Syllabus Review Committee.

How many years does it take to study ICAN?

The ICAN programme can last one year for accounting graduates and one year and six months for non accounting graduates in the normal case. The ICAN examinations hold so much value because it is globally recognised and also equips you to be self employed. So if you would like to enrol, then go for it.

Can I write ICAN exams in Canada?

Yes. ACCA and Certified General Accountants Association of Canada CGA-Canada has entered into a mutual recognition agreement. If you are an ACCA member you can apply for CGA membership by submitting relevant application form. For practicing certificate additional requirements need to be met.
