Is El Questro worth the visit?
Absolutely. If you could only visit one place along the Gibb River Road, this would be it. We did all of the ‘main’ attractions along the Gibb River Road, and El Questro was one of our favourites. As long as you go in with the right idea of what to expect, you’ll have an amazing time.

Drive: If driving, El Questro Emma Gorge is located on the Gibb River Road, 83km west of Kununurra. The road is fully sealed from Kununurra, although the 2km driveway is unsealed and with a water crossing, so 4WD is required.

Head out on this 2.1-mile out-and-back trail near Kununurra, Western Australia. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 1 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking and walking.
Do you need to book El Questro?

Are there crocs at Emma Gorge?
Are there crocodiles in the pool? No. There are two swimming holes: Turquoise Pool, about 200 metres from the end of the trail, and Emma Gorge Pool where the trail finishes.

Can you have fires at El Questro?
We do permit campfires at El Questro private sites only, please note that there are established fire pits for your convenience, please do not create more. Also be aware that at certain times of the year there will be total fire bans including campfires, always be prepared with gas powered equipment.
Can I take my caravan to El Questro?
Is the road sealed to Home Valley Station?
The Gibb River Road is sealed about halfway towards Home Valley from Kununurra end which then turns to a gravel road. There is one major river crossing you have to cross to access the station, that is the Pentecost crossing.
How long is the El Questro Gorge Walk?
3 to 5 hours
El Questro Gorge 7.2 km – 3 to 5 hours: One of the more challenging walks on the station but also one of the most fun. This is a very narrow gorge with steep rock walls. El Questro gorge is a good one to do later in the day as it is relatively shady the whole way.
