WD’s My Book Live home network drive allows you to consolidate your media in one central location for everyone on your wired or wireless network to access and enjoy. Automatically back up your PC and Mac computers to one safe place and stream your media to your entertainment center.
How do I access my WD My Book Live?
The way forward to access your My Book Live is:
- Open your file browser.
- In the Network pane under Storage section, you should see your My Book Live device.
- RIGHT click that icon, select Open option.
- A file browser will appear, you now should have access to your My Book Live storage.
Is My Book Live a NAS drive?
The My Book Live NAS devices are local disk storage boxes with Internet access. They were rebranded MyCloud a back in 2014. WD released its final firmware for the Linux-powered My Book systems in 2015.
Can I connect WD My Book to router?

The “My Cloud Home” can backup your PC and MAC. You would normally backup your phone to your mac or PC as that requires i-Tunes. As you say it does act as a basic NAS. The mybook is just an extermal (USB) drive that has no intelligence.
How do I transfer files from my book live?
- Go to MY PC.
- Right click on Mybook live and Open it rather than double click it.
- It asks for your user name and password. After you sign in ( if you remember them ) the folders appear with a green handle.
- You can open them and paste your files onto them.
Is My Cloud home being discontinued?
On April 15, 2022, support for prior generations of My Cloud OS, including My Cloud OS 3, will end. If your device isn’t compatible with My Cloud OS 5, you will lose remote access and will only be able to access it locally.

- Create a MyCloud.com account password.
