What is PBW?
PBW (Powdered Brewery Wash) is a patented alkali cleaner originally developed for Coors, now widely used in commercial breweries across North America. Use 1 to 2 ounces per gallon for cleaning kettles, 3/4 ounce per gallon for fermenters, kegs, tanks, and other equipment.
Is PBW an acid or base?

Is PBW the same as Oxiclean?
The problem is: Oxiclean simply doesn’t work as well as PBW. It doesn’t remove caked on crap as well as PBW does, it doesn’t rinse away as easily, and if you have hard water, it can leave hard water scale on your equipment.
Can I boil PBW?
It’s really easy to use PBW! It’s best used to soak your brewing gear overnight to easily remove stubborn, caked on organic deposits without scrubbing. Use 1 – 2 ounces per gallon for cleaning boil kettles, or an ounce per gallon for fermenters, kegs, carboys and other brewing equipment.
