Why is tent rocks still closed?
Season/Hours. Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument remains closed due to COVID-19. The Bureau of Land Management in coordination with our partners in the gateway community of Pueblo de Cochiti will be transitioning to a day use reservation system when it is safe to reopen the Monument.

How were the tent rocks formed?
The area owes its remarkable geology to layers of volcanic rock and ash deposited by pyroclastic flow from a volcanic explosion within the Jemez Volcanic Field that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago. Over time, weathering and erosion of these layers has created canyons and tent rocks.
Can I see the tent rocks from a car?
The tent rocks can be seen by car from a distance and you can park and walk at their bases and I suggest if you have a decent car do both.
