What happened to Softimage?
It was discontinued with the release of Softimage 2014. On March 4, 2014, it was announced that Autodesk Softimage would be discontinued after the release of the 2015 version, providing product support until April 30, 2016.
Why was Softimage discontinued?
According to Autodesk’s entertainment industry manager Maurice Patel, the decision to kill Softimage was taken to focus the company’s efforts on its core 3D tools.
Is Softimage free?
SOFTIMAGE|XSI EXP v. 3.0 is available as a free download from the Softimage Website (www.softimage.com/EXP) or as part of a complete CD-based training kit available for purchase. Intended for non-commercial use, watermarks will appear on rendered images.
