Can you FIM during flowering?
You should only FIM plants during the vegetative phase to allow plants to focus all of their energy on bud production during the flowering stage. If you want to train your plant during this time, try gentle techniques such as low-stress training (LST).
Is it better to top or FIM?
Fimming requires less precision than topping, and it can even be done by ripping the top growth off with the fingernails – although a clean tool is still ideal.
Can you FIM after topping?
Generally, you would only want to FIM a plant that has just 3 nodes, and wait until 4 nodes to top the plant. These young cannabis plants are almost ready to be topped or FIMed. Cannabis plants can be FIMed before they can be topped.
Should I Autom FIM?
Remember to start early when using HST techniques on autos. With photoperiod plants, we usually recommend topping after the 5th node has developed. With autoflowering strains, we prefer to top or fim after the 3rd node is present, as there is just not enough time to wait any longer.
Is Fimming less stressful than topping?
The downside to topping involves cutting the main stem, which can be rather stressful for a plant. This means that plants may take some time to recover, and growth can be slowed or delayed for a while. Fimming, on the other hand, is much easier for a plant to deal with as it doesn’t entail the cutting of the stem.
What is bud pinching?
Bud pinching, also known as backbuilding, is an old-school cannabis training technique that can be used to cut off the tips of your cannabis flower buds. While this technique may seem counterintuitive for many weed growers, others swear that it increases the size and density of their cannabis flowers.
How do I get more main colas?
When you’re FIMing your plant, you have the option of either cutting off a piece of the new growth or pinching it. Both have the potential to work equally well at forcing the plant to create new colas. However, I strongly recommend pinching your plant instead of cutting it since pinching leaves more room for error.
How do you grow fatter buds?
To some degree, more light translates to fatter buds and higher yields (you’ll need to pay attention to the distance between your grow light and plants or your plant may suffer from light burn). Increasing light intensity is the most effective way to fatten up buds.
How do you grow fatter nugs?
Growing dense nugs is determined by how you take care of your plants during flower. Feed them the phosphorus they need and your nugs will be full and dense come harvest. Potassium is another nutrient that should also be used during flower, as it helps promote even, strong, consistent growth.
