Where do stabilizer jacks go on RV?
Stabilizer jacks are often located at the front and rear of units. Each jack is in place when it touches the ground. Don’t extend it any further, because it could get stuck or damaged in the process. You can do a second round to check that each jack is extended properly.
What do you put under RV jacks?
Good RV jack pads or Utility Blocks can not only level your RV but can also spread the weight of the jack over a wider surface, protecting the surface beneath it. This is always helpful, but can sometimes be critical for keeping an RV from sinking into the ground when it’s standing on jacks alone.
How tight should stabilizer jacks be?
A good set of between the tire wheel chocks (X-chocks, rotochocks etc.) set tight to minimize back/forth movement. Then set stabilizers tight/snug……. run them down until they make firm contact and then 3/4-1 more crank (not designed to lift trailer).
Are jack pads necessary?
Even RVs without jacks can benefit from jack pads, though, if only to use them to level the rig or protect their tires while in storage. So, if you don’t use jacks, then you don’t need jack pads, but you may find them helpful in certain situations.
How close should a trailer be to level?
Check the ground clearance at all four corners of your trailer and compare the two front measurements and the two back measurements. What is this? You’ll want your trailer to be pretty close to level from side to side so less than an inch difference.

Is it better for trailer tongue higher or lower?
If a trailer is nose up too much, the tongue weight is low enough that the trailer may begin to sway. So in short, level is best. If level is not possible, then try to go slightly nose down. Slightly nose up can be fine, but keep an eye out for trailer sway.
What happens if trailer is not level?
An unlevel trailer will put extra weight on one axle rather than an equal weight distribution between all of the axles. Obviously, this will cause excessive tire wear to the tires that have more weight on them. If your trailer is nose high, you may notice your rear axle tires being more “flattened” than the front.
Should a trailer be level when empty?
If the trailer is less than 1 inch off of being perfectly level either up or down then it will be perfectly fine. Having it slightly higher would be better because presumably the tongue weight of the trailer will pull it down a little. You could also look into different ball mounts with different rise or drop specs.
How far should hitch be from ground?
The maximum recommended hitch ball height for trailers is 25″ from the ground measured to the center of the hitch ball. Ball Mount: Also called a Drawbar or Hitch Bar.
